Our journey began in 2004 as Total Rugby Limited, and was fueled by our profound passion for rugby. Since then, we've evolved into Total Sports Tours Limited, offering a broader array of exciting sports adventures.
While our foundation is in rugby, our horizons have expanded to encompass football, rowing, netball, soccer, hockey, rugby league and cricket. But it doesn't stop there. With a strong background in education, we will take on pretty any touring project that involves young people looking for amazing experiences.

Total Rugby began in 2004 by designing the ultimate rugby touring experience, where players would get the chance to compete in matches, learn from the pros and grow their game. As Total Rugby, the business became highly regarded as the ultimate rugby touring service where special and unique experiences were possible.
Over time the business expanded into other sports and used the same rugby template to create other equally memorable touring experiences across all sports codes.
We've seen hundreds of young people grow and develop as individuals by touring with us. That is where the real ‘return’ is for us. Join us as we continue to evolve and offer new experiences for the youth of today.

Connections with the professionals

Contacts need to work for both parties so we manage this at a professional level to ensure our touring groups get access to personnel and facilities that are world class and matched to suit strengths, knowledge, skills and level. Click here for an example of the Crusader Experience.
Risk assessment and safety
Managing risk has to be a priority for our tour groups. We always have staff on hand and on call to ensure correct management of situations that may arise due to sports injuries, medical emergencies or illness. Risk assessments and medical plans are provided for all matches. Risk Management Plans are provided for every tour group that cover what to do and who to call when assistance is required. Total Sports Tours carries comprehensive liability insurance and we require all tour groups to carry personal travel insurance.
Quality excursions
Excursions include the many activities we provide outside of the sports component. These are a critical component for a successful tour. With our years of experience we know what works. Managing Director, Phil Robson, has been involved with secondary school students for 30 years and has a good understanding of what this age group likes to do for fun. These are the opportunities for growth as well and that is one of the drivers for us. Our excursions are chosen for their:

High performance
This term does not just apply to elite, professional athletes. It is just as relevant to school and club coaches wanting their teams and individuals to reach their full potential and to improve performance across a range of spectrums. It is our mission to facilitate this by providing as many opportunities through the sports and activities platforms we provide. Spending time with elite athletes is one of our tour mainstays. We believe that by listening to their stories, young people can be inspired and motivated - to stretch and extend themselves in a variety of ways. We have connections with professional organisations that allow us exclusive access to some of their top people. As an example, in Christchurch you can spend time at the Crusaders training facility. And here you can see some of the elite rugby players that our teams have met over the years.
