Here was a team that had fallen apart at the Commonwealth Games less than a year ago, but were now being crowned as World Champions. What can they teach us:

  1. Mostly it was about selecting the right people in all of the roles, players, managers, coaching team
  2. It also required good planning that is systematic and deals with facts and good data. . .  and is not complicated and is based on simplicity
  3. Understand that there will be no execution of skills under pressure if the skill set is lacking
  4. Understand that there will be no execution of skills under pressure if the fitness is lacking
  5. Be willing to use the expertise and experience of others
  6. Don’t be afraid to make your players hurt
  7. Be open and transparent, genuine and authentic. No hiding or shutting down
  8. Create an environment where people are not afraid to stumble, that there is no such thing as failure, only an opportunity to learn
  9. Create belief as a team and as individuals – self-belief is the strongest marker of all when it comes to predicting success
